If you have never "experienced" HINKLE'S HAMBURGER SHOP in downtown Madison, IN, you have to do it at least
once.
WARNING : You will be hooked!

OK... Hinkle's doesn't have a website, so maybe for the first time, this is a
Hinkle's Fan Site...
Maybe it's really those hamburgers, or the pile of home fries always on the grill. Maybe it's the fact you
can go in, sit next to the grill and watch the Master prepare your burgers in front of your eyes. Maybe it's the homefries
with chili and cheese, the milk shakes, or just the crowd!
Maybe it is the fact you can smell those burgers a block away cooking on the gril!
If you think HINKLE'S has been around since 1933 meerly on the merits of just Madisonians, check out GOOGLE! There are 2,090 hits, countless posts on dining, best burger joints and personal websites declaring Hinkle's to
be a place out of the ordinary! And they are from all over the world!
It's like stepping back to the mid 1900s. Sure, you can go to Micky D's and get a sandwich, but you can go
to Hinkle's and enjoy the atmosphere.
OF COURSE... the time of day and day of the week will control what customers you will see! As a long time
frequenter in the middle of the night with a carload of hungry partiers, the clientel is interesting to say the least!
A college kid from Hanover coming in and ordering 100 to go doesn't even phase a seasoned grill
jockey! In fact, I have personally ordered 170 one afternoon, and hauled them back to Osgood, making delivery stops
all the way home! Those were the good ole days!
From the MADISON CAME RUNNING site:

Whatever it is, the HINKLE'S EXPERIENCE will leave you wanting more!
After an almost disasterous fire a few years ago, HINKLE'S was re-opened and is better than ever.
from MADISON CAME RUNNING . com
The increasing crowds caused an expansion into the building next door, where comfortable "sit down" dining
takes place for those that don't want to enjoy the old fashioned "beanery" type stools at the bar in the original side.
